About this resource

Students will be asked to think about some of the STEM jobs that they and their classmates are considering for the future. Librarian will introduce the idea that some of the jobs that they may end up having may not even be jobs that exist today. The same would have been true when their librarian and teacher were children. There are jobs that exist today that did not at that time. Give students ten minutes to brainstorm STEM jobs that exist today that probably did not twenty years ago. When students have finished brainstorming, have them read one of the articles linked below. Ask students to reflect on what surprised them and if any of the jobs are ones they had guessed. Ask students to consider some of the STEM job opportunities that might exist for them in the future that are not available now.
