About this resource

Groups of students are tasked with creating 10 new ideas for an eco-friendly library makeover. Students can use any idea or any building material that is considered eco-friendly. Keep the following questions in mind:

What do you consider essential elements of the library?

What types of furniture and seating arrangements should be present?

Will you include a MakerSpace? If so, what will that look like?

Is the library a space for a cafe?

Modifications for all Learners: All learners can be engaged to the extent that suits their interest and needs.

NGSS Main Related Engineering Design Standard:

HS-ETS1-2. Design a solution to a complex real-world problem by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable problems that can be solved through engineering. HS-ETS1-3. Evaluate a solution to a complex real-world problem based on prioritized criteria and trade-offs that account for a range of constraints, including cost, safety, reliability, and aesthetics, as well as possible social, cultural, and environmental impacts.
